At last, spring is here and Easter is just around the corner. Decorating our homes for Easter is more difficult than for other festivals. Perhaps the reason has something to do with the weather – the outdoors attract us away from the interiors. Also, Easter themes are more limited than Christmas or party themes – we have eggs & rabbits and that’s about it to be creative with..
Anyway, painting your own eggs can still be great fun, particularly if you have kids.
But this Easter be a bit more adventurous – decorate your eggs in a glamorous way! These color combinations could work really well:
black & silver; red & gold; ivory & gold; dark purple & bronze; black & red; black& pink. Use the second color as a glitter or translucent spray. Alternatively, wrap the painted eggs with a piece of ribbon – made of velvet, silk or lace.
Aim for opulent & pearly finishes!
For a retro theme, use color combinations such as orange & chocolate; lime & forest green; smokey purple & blue; powder pink & sky blue. Paint your eggs with geometric shapes such as circles and squares – they should make interesting patterns.
It’s best to suck the eggs before you paint them. You can also use boiled eggs if you’re doing the decoration a day before. But you should not eat the eggs after decorating them (even though some manufacturers say that it’s safe to do so). As with all boiled eggs, they should be kept in the refrigerator.
Then hang your painted eggs around your home or put them in display bowls on your dining & coffee tables and your sideboards. Also, collect some twigs with hairy buds and put these into vases – you can wrap some simple fairy lights around them for  relaxing evening lighting. Freshen up your home with some spring flower arrangements – made of daffodils, tulips and cherry blossoms.
